Nusa Dua is Bali's polished southern peninsula — manicured, calm, and purpose-built for resort living. And the Grand Hyatt Bali is its crown jewel. We've stayed here multiple times with all five kids, and every time we leave thinking: that was exactly what we needed. The resort is a Balinese water palace — five outdoor pools, a private beach, Camp Hyatt kids club, and a room configuration that actually works for a family of seven. If you're travelling with a big family and you want the full luxury resort experience without the chaos of Seminyak, this is your answer.
The Room Setup — Suite + Interconnecting
Here's the configuration that makes the Grand Hyatt work for us: a Grand Suite plus an interconnecting room. The suite has a proper living area — the boys sleep on the sofa beds in the lounge, which they think is the best thing that's ever happened to them. Steve and I have the master bedroom. The three girls go into the interconnecting room next door, which has two queen beds and its own bathroom. Everyone has space. Nobody is sleeping on a rollaway. The interconnecting door means we can hear the kids if they need us, but they feel like they have their own world. It's the closest thing to villa living inside a hotel.

The Grand Hyatt gardens — Balinese statues, frangipani trees, and manicured lawns that stretch all the way to the beach.
The Club — Worth Every Cent
If you're going to do the Grand Hyatt, do it with Club access. The Grand Club lounge is one of the best we've experienced anywhere in the world. Breakfast is a full spread — pastries, eggs made to order, fresh tropical fruit, Balinese specialties. Evening cocktail hour means Steve and I can have a proper drink while the kids graze on canapés and feel very sophisticated. The Club pool is quieter than the main pools, which is perfect for the mornings when you just want to sit in the sun with a coffee and watch the kids splash around without navigating a crowd. The Club staff remember your names, your kids' names, and your coffee order by day two. That kind of service is what makes a holiday feel like a proper reset.

The Grand Hyatt coconut — carved with the hotel name and served poolside. The little touches that make a stay unforgettable.
The Waterslides — The Kids' Verdict
The waterslides at the Grand Hyatt are genuinely epic. There are multiple slides across the resort's pool complex, ranging from the gentle family slides to the proper fast ones that the older kids queue for repeatedly. The main pool area is a Balinese water palace — terraced pools, stone sculptures, tropical gardens — and it's beautiful enough that you actually want to sit there even when the kids are off on the slides. Camp Hyatt runs daily activities for younger children, which gives you a window to actually relax. We've used it every stay and the kids have always come back happy and full of stories about what they made.

The lagoon pool — rock formations, tropical gardens, and the kind of pool that kids refuse to leave.
Nusa Dua vs Seminyak — Which Is Right for You?
We love both ends of Bali, but they serve different purposes. Seminyak is for villa stays, beach clubs, and the kind of holiday where you want to explore and eat your way through the island. Nusa Dua — and specifically the Grand Hyatt — is for when you want everything in one place. The beach is calm and swimmable (unlike much of Seminyak's surf beach). The resort is self-contained. You could genuinely not leave for five days and have a perfect holiday. For families with younger children, or for trips where you just want to decompress rather than adventure, Nusa Dua wins every time.
